Jesus warns us about the danger of judging others.

We can—and sometimes must—judge actions as sinful or situations as unjust. But to judge what is in a person’s heart, to judge their relationship with God, belongs to God alone. That is why Jesus tells us, “Stop condemning and you will not be condemned.”

Correcting wrongs and naming evil is not sinful; in fact, it can be necessary. But we must never declare a person to be evil. As Jesus reminds us, “For the measure with which you measure will in return be measured out to you.”

Instead, Jesus calls us to generosity in our relationships. “Give, and gifts will be given to you.”

So, we should ask ourselves: How large is the measure of our compassion? Is it large enough for God to use for us when we ask for his mercy?
