Hurricane Irma alters Pope Francis’ flight plan to Colombia

Pope Francis landed safely in Bogota, Colombia on Sept. 6 for a five-day visit to promote reconciliation. News reports said the pope?s plane was forced to modify its flight plan to avoid Hurricane Irma, which was churning in the Atlantic Ocean, battering Caribbean Islands and heading towards Florida.

?Let?s take the first step? is the motto of his trip, the first papal visit to Colombia since 1986.
