Nationwide concerns have been raised since the June 21 federal HHS declaration that California health care can force all health plans in the state to cover elective abortion

In spite of current federal law the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services declared on June 21 that the California Department of Managed Health Care can continue to force all health plans under its jurisdiction to cover elective abortions.

The following day, the U.S. Conference of Catholics Bishops (USCCB) called for an immediate federal legislative remedy.
