Pope streamlines the process for those seeking an annulment

Citing the need to make the process more pastoral, efficient and more affordable, Pope Francis has issued two documents amending the process for granting a declaration of invalidity of marriage, popularly known as an ?annulment.? This is a declaration by the authority of the Church that a valid marriage did not take place.

The changes go into effect on December 8th, the opening day for the Extraordinary Jubilee of the Holy Year of Mercy.
