What is meant by Easter Duty?

Most of us were brought up with the notion of the need to "make our Easter Duty," which meant to receive the Sacraments of Penance and Eucharist sometime between the beginning of Lent and Trinity Sunday, the Sunday after Pentecost.  These are some of the "minimum requirements" for a person to consider themselves a practicing Catholic.
