Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion

The Rite of Election is for catechumens seeking full initiation at the Easter Vigil. The Call to Continuing Conversion is celebrated for candidates preparing for Confirmation and Eucharist, or for Reception into the full communion of the Catholic Church.

Typically, on the first Sunday of Lent, catechumens, their sponsors and families gather with the bishop of the diocese. The catechumens publicly express their desire for baptism to the diocesan bishop. Their names are recorded and they are called the Elect.

Rite of Election and Call to Continuing Conversion will be held for all parishes in a single celebration at Cleveland Public Auditorium. There will be plenty of seating available in the upper level for friends, families, and parishioners who wish to be present and show their support for the catechumens and candidates.
